Companies that deal with any kind of hazardous chemicals should always have emergency spill kits ready to fix any of those nasty mishaps that inevitably happen. Whether your company deals with large amounts of gasoline or if you are simply distributing cleaning chemicals, there are many different types of spill protection products to help deal with any mess that comes your way and today we are going to talk about those different types of spill clean-up products as well as the types of spills that they are used for.
Booms, Socks, Pads, Pillows & Rolls
They might not sound like absorbent products, but each one of these items has a very specific use for cleaning up many different types of spills.
Booms – Booms are an industry standard for absorbing spills on water. These absorbents only soak up the petroleum-based spill and leave behind the water making on the water spills easy to clean up. These non-linting booms quickly contain spills and can be linked together to form an easy-to-recover barrier.
Socks – Socks are a lot like booms except that they are used for containing spills on the ground instead of the water. Socks are very flexible and are commonly used to surround machinery that is prone to leakage or containing large spills of oils, water, coolant, solvents and many other liquids.
Pads & Rolls – Absorbent pads and rolls are both made of a thin absorbent material that can be laid flat on the ground to soak up any spill you might have. Even though they aren’t very thick, rolls and pads are made of a very heavyweight and durable fabric that can withstand lots of traffic while soaking up some very large messes.
Pillows – They might look like something you could take a nap on, but these pillows contain highly absorbent material that is typically used to catch drips and leaks in areas where a bucket just won’t fit. Just like socks, pillows can be used to contain spills as well, but do a much better job of just simple clean up.
All of these products can be found in the Spill Protection category at www.excel-equipment.com along with many other products for liquids such as storage and containment as well as plugs and patches. Excel Equipment is here to help you with all your spill protection needs.

One of the many garage and shop equipment companies that we plan on discussing with our readers is Titan Lifts. We have already given you a brief introduction to one of their more popular products, the Titan HDML-1500XLT motorcycle lift, and plan on discussing many other products from them and other great companies such as Fill-Rite, Gasboy, Ranger, Waterloo and many more. Just to prove that we aren’t filling this site with our own pro-Titan praise, we thought that we would post some reviews from actual customers of Titan Lifts. Check it out!
“Since I don’t have much garage space I originally purchased the Titan 1,000 lb. base model lift for its ability to easily fold up and stack against the wall, but once I got it in there I was surprised to see how low to the ground it actually went. Now I just park my truck over the lift and pull it out whenever I need to work on my bike.”

Cleveland, Ohio
“Before purchasing my Titan 7,000 lb. 4-post lift my shop always became overly crowded with lawnmowers and bikes during the winter months. Now with everything stored up above me I have just as much work area as I do during the summer.”
~Bill Tarpley
Kansas City, Missouri
“I’ve worked on cars my entire life and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. However, about six months ago my back went out and I was unable to get underneath vehicles to work on them like I used to. On my birthday my wife surprised me with the Titan scissor lift system and now I have no trouble getting to the underside of the vehicles I work on.”
