Keep your fuel supply clean

Whether you run a large operation with many Gilbarco dispensers or are simply refueling your recreational vehicles with a Fill-Rite pump, making sure that your fuel supply is free of dirt, rust and any other kinds of gunk should be your top priority. No matter how clean you think your fuel may be, there are many different things that can sneak in and dirty up your system. One easy way to be certain that you are only dispensing clean fuel is to make sure you always have a proper working fuel filter on your pump.
As we have previously mentioned, many people see fuel filters as something they don’t need and as a simple “up sell” that companies push upon their customers. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Even the largest fuel distribution companies can get water and small particles in their fuel which can end up in your tanks causing condensation to form which slowly turns into rust particles that clog up your system. The best way to make sure that you aren’t pumping contaminated fuel into your vehicles is to simply get a fuel filter. Fuel filters trap all of that unwanted garbage that is floating around so that “dirty fuel” doesn’t end up in your vehicles.
After a while, fuel filters begin to fill up with the particles that they remove. Once the particles build up too much, it slows the flow rate of your fuel and often times doesn’t capture as much of the contaminates. The amount of unwanted particles in your fuel will affect how quickly your filter becomes clogged, but replacing your fuel filters on a regular basis helps to avoid these complications.
